Forty audio and visual trips and tricks to stimulate, calm, and bend your senses — even hallucinate!

The multimedia companion to the book, Get High Now (Chronicle Books), this app includes fully immersive programs to cause a total physiological change in your mind and body. Really. Each entry is based on science — not subjective New Age hearsay — and is clinically proven to work. Includes eight different audio patterns to synchronize your brain into wakeful, sleepy, or hallucinatory states; animated effects to trick the eyes to flash imagined colors; ancient trance rhythms; peripheral vision illusions; and many more. All audio programs loop automatically and can be played for hours with your phone disconnected, allowing you to "get high" on a flight, bus, at work, on a date, at Thanksgiving dinner, in jail — anywhere at anytime.

Over forty pages of scrollable, well-researched content introduces the programs and explains why they work and how to do them, including historical context and entertaining first-hand commentary excerpted from the book.

Programs include Binaural Beats · Sound Meditations · Hermanns Sparkling Grid · White Noise, Pink Noise, Brown Noise Loops · Risset Rhythm · Peripheral Drift · Ancient Trance Induction Beats · Benhams Disk · Theta Brain Wave Entrainment · Holophonic Sound · Shepard Tones · Cafe Wall · Fraser Spiral · Troxlers Fading · Tomatis-like Healing Sounds · Zollner Lines. . .and more.

With solo, tandem, and group highs, the Get High Now app opens new windows to experiencing the world. So, what are you waiting for?

GET HIGH NOW (THE BOOK)

Get High Now is an illustrated, mind-blowing magic carpet ride of more than 175 ways to alter human perception and consciousness—without drugs or alcohol. Each entry explores the worlds of neurology, biology, and physiology through meditations, illusions, common herbs, audio and visual stimulations, and some bizarre anthropological discoveries, describing in colorful detail how these highs affect our minds and bodies, as well as step-by-step directions for how to do them. Highs include:

Breathing Meditations: Indian yogis have been going out-of-body with breathwork for millennia.

Audio Entrainment: Audio loops discovered in 1839 trick the hemispheres in your brain to hallucinate a three-dimensional tone between your eyes.

Cheese: A 2007 British study showed 67 percent of people who ate one ounce of certain cheeses before bed reported wild, fantastical, and sometimes life-changing lucid dreams.

Insects: Brazilian bamboo moth larva is a powerful narcotic; multiple bee stings lead to intense hallucinations.

Self-Hypnotism: Einstein and Thomas Edison used hypnagogia to think-up their most famous inventions. It’s as easy as holding up your arm. . .

Kitchen Herbs: Norse Vikings went berserk off rosemary; dill soothes the mind; eating basil relives headaches.

Animals: Tribes in Sudan hunt the giraffe and drink it’s liver to induce spiritual visions; the blood of schitzophrenics contain the same psychotropic chemical found in hallucinagenic toads and some Russian reindeer urine. . .

. . .and so damn many more. With a supplemental audio-visual Web component and iPhone app, Get High Now allows you to baffle your mind, charge your body with good-feeling hormones, or just have fun anytime, anywhere. So, what are you waiting for? Get High Now!

Available October 2009 at bookstores nationwide. Published by Chronicle Books.

Pros and cons of Get High Now app for iPhone and iPad

Get High Now app good for

Id giv it five stars but it needs more visuals audios n shouldnt b just an ad for the book. Add more features. It is worh $1 for the beats n some of da visuals
For just .99 cents you get to really entertain yourself and have fun with friends and family viewing or listening to the neat tricks or great audio "highs". Its loaded with info as to why you see what you think you see or hear. Has lots of fun n useful information. If you like what you get here, there is a book loaded with this stuff although this is the only way to get the awsome audio.
I love it I use this every nite before I go to bed. The binarial beats are cool. Of course its not really gonna get u high. But some of the things can make u feel different in a sense. Totally worth it.
Smoke first then listen to this It makes ur high better and trippy!! Real talk!
I love this so much, I went out and bought an Ipod touch, so I can have it with me when ever I want to listen. It seems to balance me and I feel much calmer after listening. I like the raw sounds of the beats compared to some that mask the beat with other sounds. This is like drinking expresso. This is the real thing not for sissies.
this app helped me thourgh my three suspension and it really works, the one that works the best is the first audio track and the one past hangover helper You must buy if you need to get a lil buzzed and if u listen for long enough.... HIGH

Some bad moments

...if you dont cough up for every pod firmware upgrade, apparently. Ive paid Apple for two, Im not in the stone age, but not the very latest, so GHN wont sync up to my touch pod now. Read the fine print instead of assuming its intelligently retrocompatible for firmware versions like, oh, maybe already a whole year old already :-[ Like the concept, like the price, could have been five, but two stars for not thinking of us non-millionnaire non-lawyers who think an operating system should just work for a year or two before being deliberately obsoleted like M$ does to their stuff.
This app is really one big ad to push the "Get High Now" book. You really dont get high (seriously). It isnt worth the buck and my only consolation is that the binaural beats are good. Everything else in this app is elementary and lame 
The holophonic sound is the only good thing on it. It should be free
As the title says, the content of this app itself is awesome, but the app is missing a few modernisms from iOS 4. Multitasking would be amazing. Fix it and Ill fix my rating.
It doesnt even let me see or hear some of the things, when I pick certain ones it takes me to my homescreen.
Not only is this app poorly designed and visually unappealing, but it is more of a set of illusions than a method of getting high. I felt very little with this app. And as others said, its more an ad for the book than a method of getting high.
